WE #6Communication
Often we don’t realize it, but we communicate verbally and
nonverbally. Our posture, the way we fold our arms or the expression on our
faces can speak as loudly as our voices. Imagine being in a meeting with someone
who never makes eye contact and is slouched over in their chair with their arms
folded. You would automatically assume that the material you are presenting is
either uninteresting to them or that they just don’t care. If you are the presenter, you leave the meeting
feeling discouraged and that your hard work preparing for the meeting was
unappreciated. When we verbally communicate in the workplace and in life in
general it is important to be concise in what we say. Don’t leave room for
guessing or misinterpretation. As my uncle use to always say; say what you
mean, mean what you say, and don’t be mean saying it.

WE #4 Teamwork
Teamwork is when more than one individual works together to
achieve a common goal. Teamwork is not about always doing things your way but
doing what is more important for the success of the company that you work for.
Sometimes I find it difficult to let go of the reigns and accept help and input
from others. I’m uncertain if this is because I am the mother of three
hard-headed teenage boys and in most cases I really do know best or if it is
because in most job positions I have held I was required to make many decisions
on my own without input from other members of the staff. With all that being
said, I do like having other’s input and ideas because I do realize that my
ideas are not always the most effective or efficient for each situation.

WE #3 Respect
Respect in
regards to work ethics encompasses so many different aspects. You should
respect your coworkers by knowing there is a boundary that is in place in a
professional atmosphere versus a personal environment. You should
respect your work environment by keeping it clean, safe, organized, and clutter
free. One aspect of respect that is often over-looked in the work environment
is knowledge of other cultures. Our communities are more diverse now than ever
before. We must realize that while in our own culture an offered hand shake may
seem appropriate in other cultures this may be deemed offensive. As many of our
businesses become more focused on being part of a global economy, I know I need
to further my knowledge of different cultures and customs as I do not want to personally
offend anyone nor harm a potential work relationship.

WE #2 Attendance
Attendance is showing up and being where you are suppose to be and when you are suppose to be there. Attendance also encompasses your mental state of where you are. You cannot be as successful on the job if your mind is still focused on home and family life. It's hard to do but you must separate home from work and work from home. My main problem with attendance is having to miss due to my children's illness. I once relied on my mother to care for my sick children for me to attend work but she is now disabled. I should find someone that I trust that can help care for my children when they are sick and I need to attend college or work, but its honestly hard to trust anyone to care for them.

WE #1 Character
Character is the basis or the make-up of who you are.
Character is often confused with personality. Your personality may change
depending upon your environment; but your character or backbone if you will,
should always be constant despite the environment or the people present. A good
character is one that consists of honesty, reliability, kindness,
responsibility, respect, and a well-controlled temperament. I have not yet
perfected all of these things yet the one that I need to improve mostly upon is
controlling my temperament. I have been guilty of letting my emotions affect my
work at college and on my job. Whether it is nervousness clouding my knowledge
in a job interview, anger causing me to react overly hostile toward a peer, or
over confidence causing me to be too ambitious in a job or college task. It is
important for you to know who you are and what you stand for and never be
willing to compromise your character.

Introduction
Hi!! I'm a mother of three teenage boys who keep me constantly questioning my sanity. Their three new fur babies have driven me even crazier. But amongst all the craziness I smile because I know one day I will miss all these chaotic days. I like to unwind from my chaotic days by shooting a couple games of pool with my husband.
